The Veluwe, with its woodland, heath and sand dunes, is one of the oldest protected nature areas in the Netherlands. It is home to deer and wild boar. The Dutch believe it is so important to protect these wild animals that they have put ecoducts over, under and next to main roads so that they can cross safely.
